Education

Chamber Music Pittsburgh strives to foster an appreciation for chamber music in the Pittsburgh community by offering several active educational programs.

Hope Academy of Music and the Arts

Chamber Music Pittsburgh has established a lending library of over 150 stringed instruments for Hope Academy's students to use in their lessons and ensembles. This partnership allows students, who may not have had access to musical instruments before, to borrow the instruments free of charge.

Practice Challenge

Each year, Chamber Music Pittsburgh holds its annual Practice Challenge, where students in grades K-12 can practice their way to a free concert ticket and discounted tickets for their parents and siblings!

Stay tuned for information for this year's challenge. If you are interested in learning more, please contact info@chambermusicpittsburgh.org or 412-624-4129.

Montgomery Fellowship Quartet

Each season, Chamber Music Pittsburgh sponsors the Montgomery Fellowship Quartet, a string quartet of high school age students selected through an audition process administered and judged by the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony. The quartet receives a year’s coaching in chamber music with Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra violinist Jeremy Black, complimentary tickets to all of our concerts, performance opportunities, and occasional master classes with visiting chamber music ensembles.

The 2017-2018 Montgomery Fellowship Quartet is yet to be announced.

Thank you to the Edison and Ruth M. Montgomery Fund for making this program possible.

Lobby Recitals

Prior to each concert, Chamber Music Pittsburgh features youth, student, and local ensembles performing in the Grand Foyer of Carnegie Music Hall. These free recitals give the performers valuable performance experience and the opportunity to gain exposure to Chamber Music Pittsburgh's audience.
