DANISH STRING QUARTET
Monday, February 8, 2027, 7:30 PM
Carnegie Music Hall, 4400 Forbes Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15213
With “an original musical identity that serves as an inspiration to other musicians and unleashes musical energy beyond genres” (Chairman of the Léonie Sonning Music Foundation), the Danish String Quartet has taken the world by storm since first performing with CMP in 2017.
This rich program includes the American composer Gabriella Smith’s Carrot Revolution, Maurice Ravel’s beloved string quartet, and Beethoven’s final composed string quartet.
The Danish String Quartet has been performing together since they were children, developing a style that remains utterly fresh and entirely masterful. Highly in demand in the U.S. and throughout the world, it is the first ensemble ever to receive the Léonie Sonning Music Prize in 2025, an honor that traditionally recognizes a solo artist.
